certon systems GmbH helps its customers store and archive all of their important data securely. The company, which is based in Heidelberg, develops professional mass storage systems (NAS and DAS) for small and medium-sized companies as well as freelance agents. A particular focus of certon systems lies in the fields of imaging, engineering and medicine.

certon systems GmbH was founded in 2005 as a spin-off of the University of Heidelberg. At the very beginning, the company supplied mass storage solutions for experiments at CERN in Geneva. The development of products by certon systems is based on years of experience with RAID technology. Prinz von Hohenzollern Capital GmbH & Co. KG became an investor in the company in 2006. The current board of directors at certon systems is made up of Jan Erik Jonescheit, Dr. Herbert May and Bernd Reichert-Berg.
